Top 3 Moments in Green Bay Packers History

The Green Bay Packers are one of the most historic franchises in the history of the NFL. As a die-hard Packers fan, it is always exciting to look back and reminisce on all the memories that took place since the team was founded in 1919. It is difficult to track down all that history, and there are surely some memorable moments that I left off this list, but here are the top three moments that I believe are the best in Green Bay Packers History.

A New Sheriff in Town

It was and end of an era in Green Bay as quarterback, Brett Favre announced his retirement on March 4, 2008. Although Favre decided to return from retirement, he was traded to the New York Jets, which meant that Aaron Rodgers, the young quarterback who backed up Favre for the first three years of his NFL career would become the starter.  There was a lot of pressure on Rodgers to perform because many fans believed the Packers had ran Favre out of town in favor of Rodgers. Rodgers answered the called and led the Packers to a Super Bowl Championship in 2010, and like Favre, will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

 Rodgers to Cobb

The 2013 season proved to memorable one as the Packers overcame multiple key injuries and still made the playoffs.  After starting the season 5-2, the Packers played the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, which turned out to be a game every Packer fan wanted to forget.

Not only did the Bears defeat the Packers at Lambeau Field, but Aaron Rodgers endured a serious injury, which put him on the sidelines until week 17 of the season. From that point on the Packers started four different quarterbacks, but still managed to fight for a playoff berth. In the final game of the season, the Packers headed to Chicago to take on the Bears. The Packers needed to beat the Bears to go to the playoffs and with Rodgers returning you knew they had a chance. The Packers were faced with 4th and 8 situation with only 45 seconds left in the game. Aaron Rodgers snapped the ball and rolled to his left to avoid a sack and through beautiful touchdown pass to win the NFC North Division title. It was an incredible moment for all Packer fans!

 The Hiring of Vince Lombardi

One of the best moments in this storied franchise history, is when they voted to hire Vincent Lombardi to take over the reins as head coach and general manager. After being named head coach, Lombardi led the Packers to three straight and five total National Football League championships in seven years in addition to winning the first Super Bowls in 1966 and 1967. He is considered by many to be one of the best and most successful coaches in professional football history.
